Nursing Support Technician

This comprehensive course is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide essential care and support to patients under the supervision of licensed nursing staff in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, doctor’s offices, assisted living facilities, and home healthcare services.  

This course is specifically designed to provide the fundamental knowledge and practical skills to excel as a nursing support technician-certified (NST-C), covering topics such as emergency response and first aid, infection control precautions, safety measures, vital signs monitoring, bedside care, mobility assistance, nutrition and elimination, and bedside testing. The course also covers requirements specific to NST-Cs, including scope of practice, communication skills, patient rights, confidentiality, documentation, professionalism, ethics, and cultural competence. Students will learn practical duties such as making beds, positioning patients, providing preventative care, administering bed baths, assisting with ambulation, foot care, mouth care, peri-care, hot and cold therapies, and basic range of motion exercises.

Ambulance Operator

This comprehensive course is designed to prepare participants for a rewarding career as an ambulance operator (AO). AOs serve a critical function as part of an emergency medical services (EMS) team. Whether you’re new to this role or seeking to enhance your expertise, this training will equip you with foundational principles necessary for success in this critical role.

Throughout the course, you’ll cover essential topics such as Basic Life Support (BLS), scene and patient assessment techniques, airway management, trauma response, and handling hazardous materials. Additionally, you’ll learn about special patient populations, incident command systems, and ambulance operation procedures. You will also receive hands-on training in driving the ambulance, where you will develop competencies in emergency vehicle operation, navigating through traffic, maneuvering in tight spaces, and ensuring patient safety during transit. No prior experience is required, and upon successful completion, you’ll be well-prepared to serve as an Ambulance Operator, contributing to the health and safety of your community.

HazMat Endorsement

This CDL HazMat Endorsement training course is offered online, using a self-paced, and interactive learning approach. This course was specifically designed for people who have already earned a Class A license and are looking to add this endorsement. This course was specifically designed for Commercial Drivers who want to take and deliver materials that the FMCSA deems hazardous. Radioactive materials, explosives, poisons, and gases are just some examples. Truck drivers who have this endorsement have more specific responsibilities than regular drivers.

Additionally, this endorsement opens career opportunities and higher wages for drivers. It also makes them more sought after by companies and carriers. By completing this course and taking the state written test, any Class A CDL truck driver can add this endorsement to their license.

Passenger Endorsement

This CDL Passenger Endorsement training course is offered online, using a self-paced, and interactive learning approach. Upon completing the online part, students may then participate in the hands-on portion of the course at any of the 24 Community Colleges around the state.

This course was specifically designed for people who have already earned a Class B license, are seeking the P endorsement, and want to enter the transportation industry to drive transit coaches, tour coaches, or commercial passenger vehicles. Passenger endorsements are required to operate vehicles with 16 or more seats, including the driver.

After each lesson, drivers must take a quiz and score 80% or greater. After completing the online element of the course, drivers will participate in the behind-the-wheel portion of the course at any one of the state’s 24 community colleges. When drivers finish this course and pass the state exam, an unrestricted Class B Passenger Endorsement is achieved. Upon successfully completing both online and hands-on portions of the course, a participant will receive an ACCS micro-credential.

CDL Class B

This CDL Class B training course is offered online, using a self-paced, and interactive learning approach. Upon completing the online part, students may then participate in the hands-on portion of the course at any of the 24 Community Colleges around the state.

This course aims to teach students how to operate a box truck with air brakes and a six-speed manual transmission. Class B CDLs are required to drive vehicles with gross vehicle weight ratings (GVWRs) over 26,001 pounds and towing capacities under 10,000 pounds. In most cases, Class B vehicles don’t have trailers.

In this course, drivers will learn how to get a Class B CDL with air brakes, comply with FMCSA regulations, use logbooks electronically and on paper, read maps, and enroll in the FMCSA’s Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse. During the course, drivers will learn how to perform a pre-trip safety inspection and learn the basic control skills for the Alabama CDL test. Additional topics include straight-line backing, offset backing, and 90-degree backing. Drivers will also learn how to operate on the road safely. There are topics like city and highway operations, hazardous perceptions, speed and space management, lane control, sign identification, and Class B bridge heights.

After each lesson, drivers must take a quiz and score 80% or greater. After completing the online element of the course, drivers will participate in the behind-the-wheel portion of the course at any one of the state’s 24 community colleges. When drivers finish this course and pass the state exam, an unrestricted Class B license is achieved. Upon successfully completing both online and hands-on portions of the course, a participant will receive an ACCS credential.

CDL Class A

This CDL Class A training course is offered online, using a self-paced, and interactive learning approach. Upon completing the online part, students may then participate in the hands-on portion of the course at any of the 24 Community Colleges around the state.

Launch a much-needed, skilled truck driving career that prepares you to take and pass the federal CDL test. Practice safely maintaining and maneuvering trucks into traffic, loading or unloading positions, and in and out of parking spaces. Apply the necessary protocol to transport various types of goods and materials, whether regionally or nationally. Demonstrate how to operate important equipment, including truck cab computers, CB radios, and tools for basic maintenance conditions. Upon successful completion of both online and hands-on portions of the course, a participant will receive an ACCS credential.

Fiber Optics Technician and Installer

We currently offer this Fiber Optics training course online, so students can learn at their own pace, on their own schedule, using a self-paced, online, and interactive learning approach. After each lesson, participants must take a quiz and score 80% or greater. Upon completing the online portion, students may then complete the lab portion of the course at any of the 24 Community Colleges around the state. This Fiber Optic training course covers best practices and fundamental principles behind basic data and voice transmission via fiber optic cable, as well as installation and termination techniques. Students will learn how to identify fiber types, recognize various connectors used in fiber installation, and install, terminate, splice, and test multimode or single-mode fiber optic networks according to existing standards. This course combines online theory and in-person, hands-on lab activities to prepare students for employment or advancement in the fiber optics industry.

Other skills covered include customer service, communication, leadership, attention to detail, and time management. After completing the course, participants get 16 hours of hands-on equipment training. Upon successfully completing both online and hands-on portions of the course, a participant will receive an ACCS credential.  This credential may be applied toward credit courses at their local Community College.

Retail Meat Cutter

We currently offer an online Meat Cutter Training Course that provides students with a flexible and interactive learning experience. Using our self-paced online approach, students can learn at their own pace and on their own schedule. After each lesson, participants must take a quiz and score 80% or greater. Upon completing the online portion, students will have the opportunity to complete the hands-on portion of the course, which will be held at our partner Community Colleges around the state. In this course, students will gain a strong foundation in meat cutting by learning how to identify different cuts of beef and pork, portion meat accurately, debone and trim meat, grind meat, slice meat uniformly, and properly package meat for storage. Additionally, students will learn about the laws and regulations that affect meat cutting in the food industry, including food safety protocols and sanitation procedures. Our hands-on portion of the course will allow students to apply what they have learned in the online portion of the course in a real-world setting. Our instructors will guide students through each competency and evaluate their accuracy, efficiency, and safety in completing the tasks. Upon successfully completing both online and hands-on portions of the course, a participant will receive an ACCS credential. This credential may be applied toward credit courses at their local Community College.
