Course Description
This course prepares participants for safe and effective operation of a shuttle buggy during paving operations. Through online instruction and hands-on training, participants learn about material transfer vehicle components, industry terminology, and operational procedures, as well as job site safety, OSHA and DOT standards, and strategies to prevent asphalt segregation. Participants also build communication, troubleshooting, and maintenance skills to keep paving operations running smoothly. This course is designed primarily for incumbent workers with prior asphalt paving experience and requires access to employer-provided equipment for hands-on training. Participants who complete the program are ready to begin a successful career as a shuttle buggy operator. Participants who successfully complete the theory and hands-on lab for this course earn an ACCS credential.
Academic Pathways: This non-credit workforce training course may also help participants earn college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or articulation opportunities toward select certificate or degree programs at participating Alabama community colleges. Credit awards are granted solely at the discretion of the receiving institution in accordance with its academic policies.
