This Heavy Equipment Operator (Asphalt Roller) course combines self-paced online coursework with hands-on lab training for participants pursuing a career in construction and earthmoving operations. Participants learn equipment applications, attachments, operating controls, preventive maintenance, and basic operating techniques, with a focus on asphalt compaction and choosing the right roller for the job. The training covers how to safely operate an asphalt roller, perform routine maintenance and service, diagnose engines, troubleshoot problems, and understand electrical systems and hydraulics. Participants who successfully complete the theory and hands on lab for this course earn an ACCS credential.
Academic Pathways: This non-credit workforce training course may also help participants earn college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or articulation opportunities toward select certificate or degree programs at participating Alabama community colleges. Credit awards are granted solely at the discretion of the receiving institution in accordance with its academic policies.
