Plumbing Assistant Training Course

This course equips participants with the skills to excel in the plumbing industry. The training covers technical proficiency with basic plumbing tools and core installation tasks such as pipe cutting, measuring, and joining, along with leak detection and basic repairs, sink and toilet installation, connecting water supply lines, and sealing and caulking. Participants also develop teamwork, attention to detail, safety awareness, problem-solving, communication, organization, and time management skills, and learn the importance of code compliance, customer interaction, and business awareness. Coursework moves from an introduction to the plumbing business through plumbing systems, workplace safety, fixtures and appliances, pipefitting basics, water heating and drainage systems, and repair tools and techniques, preparing participants to start a career as a plumbing assistant. Participants who successfully complete the theory and hands on lab for this course earn an ACCS credential.

Academic Pathways: This non-credit workforce training course may also help participants earn college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or articulation opportunities toward select certificate or degree programs at participating Alabama community colleges. Credit awards are granted solely at the discretion of the receiving institution in accordance with its academic policies.
