Course Description
This course prepares participants to seek certification as a Grade 2 Water Operator in Alabama. Blending theory with practical skills, the training gives participants a foundational understanding of water treatment operations, equipment maintenance, and quality assurance, preparing them for an important role in public health and environmental protection. Participants gain a deep understanding of water sources, treatment processes, and essential equipment, and through hands-on activities and case studies, they practice equipment maintenance and water quality testing. The course also covers regulatory compliance, including an overview of Alabama’s water laws and relevant EPA regulations, and familiarizes participants with the documentation, inspections, and audits the role requires. Participants who successfully complete the theory and hands on lab for this course earn an ACCS credential.
Academic Pathways: This non-credit workforce training course may also help participants earn college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or articulation opportunities toward select certificate or degree programs at participating Alabama community colleges. Credit awards are granted solely at the discretion of the receiving institution in accordance with its academic policies.
