Course Description
This course prepares aspiring drone pilots with the skills needed for safe and efficient operation. Through online instruction and hands-on training, participants learn about drone components, maintenance, flight principles, airspace classifications and regulations, pre-flight checks, navigation, flight maneuvers, and post-flight inspections. Participants also build risk management and emergency procedures skills, effective communication and decision-making strategies, and prepare for the FAA Part 107 exam. No prior experience is required, and participants who complete the program are ready to pursue commercial drone applications such as aerial photography, mapping, and agriculture. Participants who successfully complete the theory and hands-on lab for this course earn an ACCS credential, while also being prepared for the separate FAA Part 107 exam.
Academic Pathways: This non-credit workforce training course may also help participants earn college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) or articulation opportunities toward select certificate or degree programs at participating Alabama community colleges. Credit awards are granted solely at the discretion of the receiving institution in accordance with its academic policies.
